Three way battle at bottom, Bayley favourites for 2nd, Ifton Roll on
It will be a three way battle at the bottom of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League after results in week 25. Bylet find themselves bottom going into the final game of the season as they got three winners at Hanwood. Gary Cooper and Jamie Taylor were best winners 12, with Hanwood’s best being Darren Wellings 5. They are 4 points behind Wem USC who lost 11-5 at home to Sir John Bayley, who are now favourites for 2nd, being 4 ahead of Hanwood. Colin Smith was their best winner 11, with Bayley’s being Chris Ward 5. Highley enjoyed a 9-5 win over Meole Brace to move a point clear of Wem USC. Dave Scriven was best winner 10 and Nick Davies was best winner for Meole 8. Castlefields are now 4th, 6 behind the Bayley, after a fine 6 winners at Champions Wrockwardine Wood. Dave Peach was their best winner 6, with Steve Roberts’ 7 win best for the Champs. St Georges are another point behind the Fields after defeating Chester Road 11-3 as Roy Bradburn was best winner 2, and Paul Griffiths best winner 11 for the Roaders. Ifton continued their fine form with a 12-2 win over Burway to be just 4 points behind St Georges. Captain Dickie Jones said “our last home game saw us put in another good performance. Neil Kershaw was our best winner 6 to keep his good form going. Liam Dovey played well for them against Owen Jackson but Owen showed his class to win 17.” Burway’s best was Dave Wilding 14. Newport are just a point behind Burway now after a 11-3 home win over Hanmer. Skipper Ayden Smith said it was a “top win in our last home game of the season. A number of our players played very well especially Dale Rudrum (best winner 6) and Kieran Buckley.” Best for Hanmer was Mike Gilpin 13.
Wrockwardine Wood are 50 ahead of Sir John Bayley, who are 4 ahead of Hanwood. Bylet are 4 behind Wem USC and another point behind Highley. Mike Beer is 1 ahead of Alex Jones and Mike Gilpin for the League Averages.
