Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
The second weekend of the Coors Meole Open takes place this weekend. The Saturday morning sees Merseyside county players Dave McDermott and James Fitzpatrick take part, along with Staffordshire’s Nathan Dawes. Ifton and Wales’ Nick Jones plays, as well as Shropshire’s and new Bayley signing Stuart Rutter, while Tom Roden and Jamie King have excellent competition experience. The afternoon sees former runner-up Martin Gaut start his quest to go one better. The Cheshire quartet of Simon Cookson, Dan Nixon, Tom Vickers and Owen Cookson travel down, and former homester Wayne Phillips and Dan Williams play. Spencer Clarke plays as well as his Dad, and Clay Flattley has done well in this competition before.
The Sunday sees Steve Pratt and Pete Varney take part along with Staffordshire’s Jamie Wyer, Simon Homer, Glynn Storer, Lee Cavill and Dave Wright. Gareth Coates and Ryan Prosser are big competition winners before and be expected to go close. Ian Booth travels down from Yorkshire to play, and Pete Farmer and Michael Beer will be some of the home hopefuls expected to go far. The afternoon sees Staffordshire have several players over including Scott Simpson, Aaron Tapper, Dave East, Stuart Gittings, Jason Groom and Danny Statham. Dickie Jones travels along with his son Ollie, and Elliot McGuinness, Andy Hughes, Carl Fielding, Kevin Boon and Chris Barton are all competition winners. Scott Moseley is a recent homester and could be difficult to beat on those greens.
