James Davison claimed the Don Bennett Memorial Trophy for the first ever Hadley Open after defeating Jon Palmer 13 in the final. It was an even start but James then went 13-7 up on the longer marks. Jon did get back to 15-12 down but James kicked on again to lead 20-12. Jon got a single but James then played an excellent bowl and Jon played over and missed. In the Semi Finals and James held off a spirited Greg Smith fightback. It was a close game to start before James led 18-12, however Greg used round pegs on the side of the green to his advantage to get back to 18 across. A bad end saw James get in but Greg got two next end and led a two foot bowl on a round peg. James beat it last bowl, and then playing a 35m mark into the corner, led a 6 inch bowl which was good enough to win 20. Jon Palmer impressed in his Semi Final as from 7-5 down against Matt Gilmore he then went 19-9 up and won 11.
Well done to James on his win.

Quarter Finals:
James Davison was 8-4 up on Tom Killen but Tom went 13-8 up. He was 17-12 ahead but James used his experience to come back and win 18.
Greg Smith was 5-3 down on Dave Lloyd but was then 14-5 ahead. Dave got back to 16-12 down but Greg got back in and won 14.
Matt Gilmore had a close game with Paul Williams to start with but then went 16-10 down. Paul came back to trail 20-19 but Matt won the last end.
Mark Taylor and Jon Palmer had a good game with Mark battling back from 18-13 down to level at 18s. But Jon then got out in the next two ends.
2nd Round:
Tom Killen was 15-11 down after a close start but after a barrage of 2s managed to win 16.
Dave Lloyd was always in control against Paul Beer leading 14-4 and winning 9.
Greg Smith raced 18-6 up on Gerald Merry and despite Gerrard getting back to 19-14 down Greg won 14.
Paul Williams was 7-4 down on Scott Simpson but went 14-11 up. From 17-14 down Paul ran out.
Matt Gilmore had an even start with Keith Wall but then went 16-8 on a round peg. However Keith got back to 17-16 down but Matt ran out.
Mark Taylor had a terrible start to go 8-0 down but from 14-8 adrift he battled back to 14 across, and won 17 from 17-16 down.
Jon Palmer was another who had a bad start to be 13-2 down, but from 17-9 down, he ran out in the corners.
1st Round:
Tom Killen took an early 9-2 lead over Bruno Heath and extended this to 17-8. Bruno got back to 17-14 in ones before Tom then ran out.
Chris Gill was 6-4 down but then went 15-6 up on a straight mark and then 19-8. Tom got him in the corners and got back to 20-17 before Chris got the one he needed.
Danny Statham raced 11-2 up on Danny Sillitoe but Sillitoe got back to 11-9. Statham then went 18-12 up but Sillitoe got back to 20-18 down. Statham got the one he needed for game.
James Davison was always ahead on Kris Johnson leading 10-4 and 14-10. He then ran out.
Paul Beer went 9-3 and 12-6 up on Mike Beer before Mike got back to lead 18-17, but Paul then ran out.
Greg Smith had an early 8-3 lead however Scott got back to trail 10-8. But Greg from 16-12 up ran out.
Dave Lloyd was 6-2 up before Ayden Smith went 9-6 up. Dave got back in but then found himself 15-12 down before leading 17-15. He then kept this advantage to win 18.
Gerald Merry was 10-5 down versus Phil Jones but got back to lead 11-10. Gerald then went 18-14 up and kept this lead to win 16.
James Fitzpatrick couldn’t make it because of car trouble so Scott Simpson was given a walkover.
Paul Williams raced 9-3 up on Ryan Prosser and then 16-7. Ryan tried to get back into it but only got back to 18-16 down before Paul won 19.
Matt Gilmore was 6-5 down on Kirk Stevens before going 14-6 up. Kirk got back to trail 14-13 but Matt then found another gear to win 15.
Keith Wall went 11-3 up on Steve Burroughs but Steve got back to 11-7. From 14-9 up Keith ran out.
Lee Cavill was 5 across with Glynn Storer but then went 11-5. Glynn got back to be 14-12 down but Lee then only conceded one more to win 13.
Mark Taylor was 10-4 up early on Sonya Lucas but Sonya got back to trail 10-9. Mark kicked on again though to win 12.
James Wilcox was 10-9 up on Richard Lonnia before trailing 15-10. However James only conceded one more chalk.
Jon Palmer and Simon Homer had runs with the jack with Jon leading 12-7 then trailing 13-12. Simon went 19-17 up but Jon managed to win 20.
