Hanmer shocked the Champions Wrockwardine Wood to reach the Semi Finals of the Barlows Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy for the first time. Their win of 40 at home laid the foundations with Tommy Lowndes and Jack Hewitt the best of five winners 21-7. Rob Roden was the sole Wrockites winner 21-19. At Wrockwardine Wood and two winners there meant the damage was just 24 chalks, Robin Bennett the best of the two 14, and Liam Stevens the best winner for the League Champions 7. They will now play Sir John Bayley after they got past Wem USC by 71 overall. They had 6 winners at home to win by 62 with Paul Evans the best 21-6, while away they won by 9, Aidy Ashley and Alex Jones best winners 15. Wem’s best winner was Mike Dulson 15.
Castlefields had another big win in this competition as they won by 100 shots over Adderley with 11 winners. At home they had 5 winners with Gary Neal the best of them 6, with Rich Pullen being Adderley’s sole winner 16. Away they took all 6 winners, Callum Wraight the best of them 4. St Georges will play them in a repeat of last year’s Semi Final after they defeated Ifton by 24 overall. They won by 32 on the top green, Tony Rhodes their best winner 10 with Andy Hughes Ifton’s only winner 17. At Ifton they held them to 8 chalks, Roy Bradburn the best of their 3 winners 14, and Sam Williams was the home side’s best 9.
The Semi Finals take place on Wednesday 10th May.
