Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
Jamie King won the 2023 Newport Open after a consistent display all day despite a tough draw throughout the competition. He beat good friend Ayden Smith in the final 21-9, in a repeat of the 2012 Mid Shropshire League Merit Final. He played well all final, Ayden having to fire at least 10 times in the final, hitting the majority of those to keep him in the game. From 10-7 up though Jamie went 19-7 ahead and despite Ayden getting two singles Jamie was able to finish the match off.
In the Semi Finals and Ayden defeated Josh Bradburn 15 after going 11-3 up and then 16-8. Josh got back to trail 17-15 in the corners before Ayden ran out. Jamie King had an even start with Sam Millward but then went 12-7 up. Sam got back to 14-11 down but Jamie upped it again and won 12.

Quarter Finals:
Ayden Smith was 7-2 down versus Gary Owen but then went 16-9 up. Gary did get back to 16 across before Ayden ran out.
Josh Bradburn went 7-0 down against Tom Killen but got back to lead 14-11. Tom levelled it at 14 across before Josh ran out.
Jamie King was always in control against Scott Harries going 13-3 up and then maintained this lead to win 10.
Sam Millward was 6-2 up on Jason Jones byt then 8-6 down. With the help of 2s he went 20-10 up and finished it off 12.
Round 2:
Ayden Smith went 8-1 and 12-2 up on Neil Wright before Neil got back to trail 12-5. Ayden than ran out.
Gary Owen went 9-4 up and then from 10-6 led Kev Rafferty 16-6. He kept this lead to win 11.
Tom Killen was 12-7 ahead of Carl Bonatti but then got back to 12-11 down. But Tom only let him score 2 more to win 13.
Josh Bradburn was 11-9 down on Aaron King before going corners to lead 18-11 and win 13.
Scott Harries raced 8-1 up on Gus Needham and kept this lead to win 7.
Jamie King was 11-5 down early on against Pete Farmer but got back to 15 across and ran out from 17-15 down.
Sam Millward was 10-4 down versus Mel Higham before going 12-11 up. He went 20-14 up before Mel got back to 19 but Sam flicked his counting bowl out to win.
Jason Jones had an even start with Josh Hale before going 13-8 up. He then extended his lead to 18-11 before winning 14.
Round 1:
Neil Wright from 9-4 up went 15-7 and 17-9 ahead of Tony Gill before winning 9.
Ayden Smith was 5-0 down on Wayne Phillips but then went 10-7 up. Ayden then held the advantage to win 15.
Gary Owen had a very even game with Will Childs until he ran out from 19-18 down.
Kev Rafferty was 5-0 down versus Craig Baugh but then went 8-6 up, He was 17-13 down however he ran out.
Tom Killen raced 16-2 up on Michael Cooper and held off to win 8.
Carl Bonatti was 14-9 and 19-12 up on Phil King before Phil got back to lead 20-19, however Carl got the two he needed.
Josh Bradburn was 16-8 up on Wayne Rogers before he played a great bowl to get in. Wayne then got back to 16 across but Josh won 20.
Aaron King was 14-9 up on Tom Roden but then trailed 19-14. However Aaron got back inton the game and won 20.
Scott Harries always had the edge over John Clarke going 18-10 up and finishing it off 15.
Gus Needham was 12-1 up on Jon Lea before Jon got back to be 14-10 down. However Gus then got the block back and won 12.
Jamie King had an even start with Darren Fielding before Jamie from 10-7 up went 19-8 up. Darren got some shots back but Jamie finished it off 13.
Pete Farmer from 6 across went 14-8 up versus Kiah Roberts but then got back to 16 across. However Pete won 17.
Mel Higham was 10-3 ahead of Phil Jones but Phil got back to 10 across. Mel then went 17-10 up and won 14.
Jason Jones was always ahead of Ellie Davies goint 7-0 and 16-6 up before winning 6.
Sam Millward from 4 across went 18-4 up on Owen Cookson before winning 5.
Josh Hale from 4 across with Kane Beaman ran out on a 25m straight mark.
