The Newport Open returns tomorrow with holder Wayne Phillips looking to keep hold of the trophy he first won in 2015! He has a tough opener against ex home player Ayden Smith on the green closest to the club, with the winner playing Neil Wright or Tony Gill. There are several ex homesters in the lineup. Pete Farmer has a tough opener on his hands against Kiah Roberts, while Sam Millward plays Owen Cookson. Two other homesters Aaron King and Josh Bradburn have tough games against Tom Roden and Wayne Rogers respectively, while Jamie King plays Darren Fielding and Scott Harries has John Clarke Sir John Bayley have the most players in the competition with 10, two of them meeting as Kane Beaman takes on Josh Hale, with the other players being Gus Needham playing Jon Lea, Michael Cooper taking on Hadley Open Quarter Finalist Tom Killen, Gary Owen having Will Childs and Craig Baugh versus Kev Rafferty. There are three Welshmen travelling down to play with Carl Bonatti taking on former Moor Lane Open winner Darrell Handley, Mel Higham playing Phil Jones and Jacob Jones taking on former home player and the only woman in the draw, Ellie Davies.
Games 1-8 play their first game on the no.1 green by the club and the 2nd round on the no.2 green.
Games 9-16 play their first game on the no.2 green and then 2nd round on the no.1 green.
Players 1-8 and 17-24 need to be there by 11, with players 9-16 and 25-32 there by 11.30.
There is no dress code.
There will be hot and cold food available.
Please could bowlers park at the Burton Borough School TF10 7DS and not at the Cricket Club or the roads around the green.
