1. Kiah Roberts
Club: Burway
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Castlefields
Qualification: Mark Thomas 13, Dave Redge 5 at Monkmoor
Kiah has been a key player for Burway after helping them into the league in 2012. He has finished top two in their League Averages every season, his best being in 2014 when he won 19 games.
2. Spencer Clarke
Club: Sir John Bayley
her clubs played for in the SPBL: None
Qualification: Steve Broome 18 at Madeley Cricket Club
Spencer has been an one man club in the league, consistently being a key performer for Sir John Bayley, which meant he became one of our Hall of Famers last season. He helped them win the league in 2016, 2019 and 2021, captaining them to their first success.
3. Mark Shore
Club: Hanwood
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Wrockwardine Wood, Sir John Bayley, Childs Ercall
Qualification: Chris Jones 20 at Bicton
Mark has been a consistent performer in the Premier League for 30 years, starting off at Wrockwardine Wood, then moving to Sir John Bayley, Childs Ercall and Hanwood, where he helped them into the league. Beat Josh Bradburn last season in the 1st round of the Merit on Sinclair.
4. Josh Bradburn
Club: St Georges
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Bowring, Newport
Qualification: Dave Evans 18 at Sinclair
Josh has settled at St Georges after helping Bowring into the league, before moving to Newport. He won the Premier League Merit in 2016, and reached the Semi Finals of the Newport Open last month.
5. Will Tyler
Club: Meole Brace
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: None
Qualification: Simon Lane 18 at Monkmoor
Will is now a mainstay of the Meole Brace Premier League team since going there in 2019. Played his opponent Gary last season on Chester Road.
6. Gary Beff
Club: Chester Road
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: None
Qualification: Richard Lockett 8 at Bridgewater No.1
Gary’s recent form in this league has seen him earn a place in the County squad, winning 16 games last season. He has captained Chester Road over the last couple of seasons.
7. Peter Farmer
Club: St Georges
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Hadley USC, Childs Ercall, Newport
Qualification: Rob Fuller 9 and Dave Lloyd 16 at Trench
Pete has been the one of the most consistent players in our league, winning the most games of any player, 473 until today, being one of our first Hall of Famers. He has won the Premier League Merit 6 times, the Mike Hinton Pairs once, League Averages 4 times and the Most Consecutive Wins 6 times. Has also won the league 7 times, and the Alan Mayhew Trophy and Pool A.
8. Ash Wellings
Club: Hanwood
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: None
Qualification: Adam Jones 14 at Telepost
Ash has become an important player for Hanwood since helping them into the league in 2015. He had his best season in 2019 when winning 21 games.
9. Phil King
Club: Hadley USC
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: St Georges, Sir John Bayley
Qualification: Ayden Smith 19 at Trench
Phil is not playing in the Premier League this season, but has previously played at Hadley USC, St Georges and the Bayley, playing just the one game for the Bayley last season.
10. Ben Hinton
Club: Chester Road
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: None
Qualification: Steve Dance 16 at Bridgewater No.2
Ben has had a good season so far at Chester Road after debuting in 2021, having used that experience to have a good season so far this one.
11. Jesse James
Club: Burway
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Craven Arms, Castlefields
Qualification: Russell Pugh 15 at Bicton
Jesse is now captain of Burway, after playing in the Premier League for Craven Arms and Castlefields, before going to Burway after a break. His best season came in 2009 when he won 21 games.
12. Richard Lawson
Club: Hanwood
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Donnington Wood, Bowring
Qualification: Carl Hinton 5 & Alan Boulton 15 at Bridgewater No.1
Rich is another captain playing today, now having settled at Hanwood after leading Bowring in the Premier League for a number of seasons. He won the League Averages in 2009, Most Consecutive Wins award in 2015, and the Mike Hinton Pairs in 2010.
13. Will Tarrell
Club: Meole Brace
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Ford
Qualification: Dave Nicholls 20 at Telepost
Will started off at Ford before moving to Meole Brace after they withdrew from the league in 2013. He has become a key player for them, winning 20 games last season, which has earned him a County spot.
14. Keith Wall
Club: Castlefields
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Chester Road, Meole Brace
Qualification: Martin Lloyd 16 at Bridgewater No.1
Keith won the Premier League 25 Years Anniversary Competition in 2019. He started off at Castlefields, before two games at Meole Brace in 2008 and a season at Chester Road in 2013. He won the League Averages in 1998.
15. Tony Rhodes
Club: St Georges
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: None
Qualification: Pete Grimston 16 at Madeley CC
Tony won the Premier League Merit in 1996, and has been a consistent performer in the near 30 years of the Premier League with St Georges, being captain on numerous occasions, including this season. This has earned himself a place in our Hall of Fame.
16. Nick Davies
Club: Meole Brace
Other clubs played for in the SPBL: Ford, Hanwood
Qualification: Beat Liam Page 10 at Bicton
Nick is captain of Meole Brace this season, after playing in the Premier League with Ford and Hanwood before, his best season being 18 wins in 2003 after helping Ford reach the Premier League in 2001.
