Adderley face champs, Highley take on leaders, Fields face derby
Adderley face the Champions in week 13 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier League as they look to move away from the bottom and Wrockwardine look to close the gap at the top. Captain Gary Whitehall says “this week we welcome Wrockwardine for the final game of the first half. We played them a few weeks back in the county cup where we stayed in the match for a good while so on home turf the agg could be close and needed by both teams for different reasons.” League leaders Sir John Bayley travel to Highley, who are unbeaten at home so far this season. Skipper Reece Farr says “we take on a tough Sir John Bayley team, who are recent Alan Mayhew Cup winners so will be up for it against us! We look to continue our home form and look to cause an upset!” The Bayley have won their 8 games, all double figures, as they look to reclaim their title. Castlefields slipped up last week at Burway, not helped by missing a few players, and will be hoping most of them are back as they entertain an up and down Hanwood side, who won 13-1 last week. Captain Adie Rowe said “we welcome Hanwood and the new Shropshire Merit Champion Rich Lawson, congratulations to him! We will be looking to bounce back from our defeat on Saturday as we continue to keep the pressure on at the top of the league.” Hanwood will look to build on that win last week as they aim for some consistency this season.
Bottom side Wem USC host Meole Brace looking to catch up with the teams above them. Meole ended a winless run last week at home to Adderley and will be thinking they could get an away win to move them up the table. Hanmer had a disappointing home result last week against Highley, so will be looking for a better result against another South Shropshire side in the Bylet, who will be looking for better fortune after just 3 winners in their last two away games. Chester Road have had two close games in their last two, but will be hard pressed to do so again at Ifton, who are aiming for some of the form from earlier this season. Burway have good form at the moment, culminating in their win against the Fields last week, and will be looking to avenge their heaviest ever home defeat they suffered at home to St Georges in the last game of 2022, a 14-2 defeat. St Georges just dipped out last week at Chester Road, and will be looking to win the aggregate this time round.
