Nicky Jones made history as he became the first Ifton bowler to win the SPBL Merit. He defeated Jamie King in the final 18, coming back from 17-11 down after an even start between the two bowlers. Nicky played the corners well in the Semi Final against Mike Beer, racing 14-3 up, and didn’t allow Mike to get back at him, winning 13. Jamie had an even start against Josh Bradburn, but from 13-10 down went 16-13 up and won 14.
In the Quarter Finals Nicky Jones had a slow start against Josh Cotton but from 7-5 down went full corners and won 10. Mike went from 5-3 up to 12-3 up against Mark Thomas and won 8, while Josh Bradburn raced 10-2 up on Martin Lloyd and won 8 playing very well on the shorter marks. Jamie King was 5-0 down early on against Rich Lawson but went 10-5 up and won 10 in the corners.
