The league decided to allow another team into the league to bring it up to 14 teams. At the AGM at Shrewsbury Cricket Club a vote was taken on whether to vote in Ifton or Bylet into the league. 8 clubs voted in favour of Bylet and 5 for Ifton, so it was the Bridgnorth side who entered the league. However, in March Hadley USC had to pull out of the league after losing  several players over the Winter. This meant the league went ahead with 13 teams, with Ifton having to wait another year to get their chance.

Wrockwardine Wood started the season off with a 14-0 win over Sir John Bayley, as the Bylet had a baptism of fire when losing 13-1 at St Georges. The Bayley then suffered a 9-5 home loss to Donnington Wood as a season of struggles beckoned. It was St Georges and Castlefields who made the early running, a point separating the two after six games., with just five points separating the bottom six, the Bayley being bottom of that group. The defining match of the season was when the Fields went up to St Georges and won there 9-5 to go top. Hanwood’s struggles started as they could only field 10 players at Craven Arms, although were still ahead of the bottom sides with Sir John Bayley three adrift of Archibald Worthington. Castlefields led by 21 points after 15 games to Chester Road, with Craven Arms a further two behind.  St Georges kept fighting though, moving back into second place and just 14 behind the Fields after 18 games played. It was still tight at the bottom, but the Bayley could not get off bottom spot, despite beating the Fields 9-5 in a fine win. Castlefields were 20 points clear with just three games left, as the attention turned to who would finish bottom in a much closer race. With just one game to go the Bayley trailed by 7 to Donnington Wood, and 11 to Archibald Worthington, who they faced in the last game of the season. But there was no great escape as they only beat them by one chalk with 5 winners , finishing 11 points adrift. At the top and Castlefields clinched their title with ease, finishing 24 ahead of St Georges, with Wem USC edging out Chester Road in third. Tony Rhodes won the League Averages with 20 wins, finishing just 15 chalks ahead of Mark Holland. John Breeze and Glyn Teece made it a double for St Georges as both won 12 consecutive games to take that award.

All eyes were on the Mid Shropshire League as Coddon and St Georges fought it out for the title, with Coddon able to apply to enter the play-offs if they won the league, which they did. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday 27th September at Wrockwardine Wood, but Coddon could not field a side. They tried again the Friday after, the now traditional first Friday of October slot, this time at St Georges. In front of a crowd of 300 plus, three deep in some areas of the top green, it was the Premier side that flew out of the traps, with club stalwarts Spencer Clarke and Norman Harvey winning 2 and 3 respectively at the front to move 28 in front. But Coddon fought back, despite being a few regulars out, as they took two winners in the middle to be just 22 behind into the back four. But the Bayley’s strength in depth showed, with four winners at the back, led by Ray Willetts’ 1 win, meant they won by 79.

The Alan Mayhew Trophy was held again and this time Castlefields made the final to play Chester Road at Sir John Bayley. The Fields always led after Alan Davies won 4 in the first four, and only a late fightback from the last two of Chester Road made the score respectable with the Fields winning by 15.

The Merit was held at Ercall Magna where Paul Williams from Castlefields beat Chris Ball from St Georges in the final.
