The Alan Mayhew Trophy kicks off later today with our new sponsor the Audlem Special Events Team. Reigning Champions Sir John Bayley look to retain their trophy by defeating a Bylet team who have lost several players over the Winter. The team they beat in last year’s final, Castlefields, take on Highley again in the first round, who they beat by over 100 last season in the same round. Horsehay will get some practice on Hanwood for Friday’s opening league game as they both clash this round. Horsehay ran Wem USC close last season but know Hanwood will be tougher opposition. Wrockwardine Wood have never won this trophy, and aim to put that right by beating Adderley in the first round, who did shock the Wrockites at home in the league last season. Hanmer and Meole Brace finished just one place apart last season so could have a close game.
Ifton have withdrawn so Burway have received a walkover into the next round, while St Georges and Wem USC have received byes.
