Audlem Special Events Team Alan Mayhew Trophy 2nd Round Preview

The current holders Sir John Bayley will look to go one step closer to retaining the Audlem Special Events Team Alan Mayhew Trophy as they take on Wem USC in the 2nd round. Wem enjoyed a good start to the season over Castlefields, and will look for a similar home result this time around. Captain Andy Marshall said “we are looking forward to the challenge against the best team in the county. We have a few people unavailable so we have a few stepping up from the Tanners team so it will be interesting to see how they get on.” Last year’s runners-up Castlefields take on Burway who received a bye into the first round, and will be looking to replicate their run to the final back in 2015. Skipper Adam Dovey said “we face a really good Castlefields side and are definitely the underdogs, but we’re going into the game confident of causing an upset. We know it’ll be tough but we have a good side and are hoping to progress into the next round.” St Georges haven’t won this trophy since 2012, and take on Adderley, who hope that they have a better second round tie than last year against Castlefields when they lost by over 100. The other tie sees last year’s Semi Finalists Hanmer take on 2017 winners Hanwood, with both teams having met just on Friday at Hanmer.
