There are two derbies tonight in the Audlem Special Events Team Alan Mayhew Trophy Semi Finals, one in Shrewsbury and one in Telford. 9 time winners Castlefields play 2017 winners Hanwood in a repeat of the 2017 and 2019 Semi Finals, the first was won by Hanwood and the second was a draw with Castlefields progressing. Castlefields captain Steve Peach says “we look forward to facing our local rivals in a bid to reach another final of the Alan Mayhew trophy. The Hanwood green is always a test but one we always look forward to and I’m sure all the lads will be up for this one with a place in the final up for grabs!”
Holders Sir John Bayley take on St Georges who are looking to make it third time lucky in the Semi FInals in the last three seasons. Bayley vice-captain Tom Roden says “it’s going to be a tough match. St Georges have strengthened, their home green is always a challenge, and they have a handful of ex homesters to send to SJB. We’ll have to be at our best to go through.” St Georges skipper Josh Bradburn is “looking forward to the game for a chance to reach our first final with our new team . It will be a tough ask but I feel it is definitely achievable as long as we are all on it from the start.”
A reminder that all players taking part must have played at least one league game in any league to be eligible.
