Adderley face Fields, Hanwood have tough trip, Wem look for home comforts
Adderley face a tough test at home to Castlefields in week 8 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Gary Whitehall says “we look forward to welcoming Castlefields, one of the title contenders, to Adderley this week, a team littered with county bowlers so will be a good challenge for the village people!” Castlefields will be looking for an away win to keep up at the top, while Adderley will be looking to reverse their home loss to St Georges a couple of weeks ago. League leaders Sir John Bayley host Horsehay who are currently joint bottom with the Bylet, both teams needing the points for differing reasons. The Bylet travel to Wem USC, a place where they won last season. This is a different Bylet side now though, so Wem will be looking to reverse that result. Skipper Andy Marshall says “we are looking forward to welcoming Bylet on Friday in what we are expecting to be a very competitive game against a good bunch of people. We will be hoping for a home win as they beat us at home last year.”
Hanwood face a tough test going to St Georges, who despite last week’s 3 at Wrockwardine Wood, have been in good form so far this season. Captain Simon Lane says “an away game at St George’s is never a game that our lads look forward to, possibly even more so this year with them looking like they’ve strengthened their team again this season. We will obviously go there giving it our best shot, hoping to scrape a few games to back up the good home results we had last week. We are missing a couple but the lads are playing well and we will hope to make them work for the win.” Wrockwardine Wood host Highley looking for another good home win to follow up last week’s 11-3 success against St Georges, while Highley will want to build on their 10-4 win last week against Adderley. Meole Brace take on Ifton with both teams in excellent form and coming off away wins last week, while Burway meet Hanmer with both teams having had some good and poor results so far, both teams coming off a home loss in their last home games.
