Horsehay win second game, Bayley bash Burway, Wrockites win away
Horsehay won only their second game in the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League 10-4 against Adderley. Spokesman Steve Reeves says “we welcomed Adderley to the Hoss in what was really a game we needed to win to ensure we kept pace with those above. Again we were unable to field a settled side, but we started well going 3-1 up from the first four, from there on we battled well from 1-12 to ensure we got over the lined and earned a well earned 2nd prem win. Hopefully we can kick on and use this in the matches to come.” Best winner was Spencer Collins 10 with Tom Killen best for the Adders 16. Sir John Bayley beat Burway 13-1 with Scott Harries best winner 5 and Russ Davies the winner for the visitors 20. Vice-captain Tom Roden said “it’s a great result. Burway have some top quality players, and they’ll have left thinking they could or should have had 3 or 4 winners. We had at least 3 cards 10 shots down on Friday, all coming back to win.” Castlefields nearly matched the Bayley with a 12-2 win over Highley. Tom and Jon Palmer were best winners 6 with Jamie Taylor best winner 16 for the away side.
Wrockwardine Wood kept up their good form with a 10-6 away win at Hanwood. Skipper Rob Jones says it was a “great away win at a testing away fixture. Got on top from the start and kept going. 3-1 up off four and only losing the other game 19, and as the night went on, we continued to pick up points and secure the agg. Great result, and I would say played in an enjoyable and competitive spirit. Good luck to Hanwood for the rest of the season, not an easy place to win at.” Wrockwardine’s best winner was the returning Chris Grocott 5, while Simon Lane, Mark Shore, Mark Parsons and Dave Burton were best for the home side 15. Ifton continued their good form with a 12-2 win over Wem USC led by Darren Lacey, Andy Armstrong and Martin Jones all winning 8. Simon Lewis was best for Wem 13. Hanmer had their best result of the season with a 11-3 victory over Meole Brace, Graham Bennett best winner 5. For Meole it was Will Tarrell 14. St Georges and Bylet was called off due to a waterlogged green with St Georges 7-1 up.
Sir John Bayley are level with Wrockwardine Wood and another point ahead of Castlefields, but have a game in hand. Horsehay are level with Bylet, but Bylet have played a game less. They are both 11 behind Adderley. Callum Wraight is still leading on 11 wins, and leads the Most Consecutive Wins on 11 wins.
