Hanwood & Wem face tough tests, Highley look to build
Hanwood and Wem USC face tough home games in week 14 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Hanwood take on Castlefields in a local derby, with captain Simon Lane commenting “we are expecting a very tough home game against a team that will be wanting a strong second half to the season. Our aim will be to enjoy the evening, give 100% in each game and hope to squeak out a home victory.” The Fields know they need to win there like they did last season to keep up with the league leaders Sir John Bayley. The Bayley travel to Wem USC hoping to not slip up there like they did last season when losing in the last game of the season. Wrockwardine Wood are at home against Horsehay looking to take any slip ups from their rivals, while Horsehay know any points are good points in their battle at the bottom. Bylet, level with them at the bottom, have an easier tie down the road at Highley, a green they are very familiar with. Highley captain Stu Gittings says we are “looking to follow up a good away win on our neighbours. They are having a tough season this year so wish them the best but we are looking to get a top half finish this season so will be all out to get a good win.”
St Georges will look to bounce back from their loss at Hanmer last week as they host the same team. Hanmer have hit some good form now they have a more settled team. Meole Brace will also look to bounce back from just 3 winners at Burway as they host them at home. Burway have had a good half to the season and find themselves in the top half at the turn. Ifton are another who have had a good half of the season but know they will need to win at Adderley if they want to catch the top three. Adderley though aren’t completely safe yet so need the points to keep out of trouble at the bottom.
