The qualifying for the SPBL Merit starts tomorrow night with 29 players looking for the 5 qualifying spots available.
Current holder Nick Jones starts his defence at Meole Brace, but he will face tough opposition from previous two time winner Stu Rutter, Shropshire Merit winners Kiah Roberts and Rich Lawson, and the in-form St Georges duo of Pete Grimston and Joe Killen. Sir John Bayley sees another former winner Liam Stevens look to reclaim his title, alongside team mate Sam Millward, and Bylet’s Joe Dicken, who’s had an excellent first season in the league. Over at Wem USC there are two former winners there in Rich Goddard and Tom Roden with another two players with over 600 appearances in the league looking for their first title in this competition in Clay Flattley and Spencer Clarke. Adderley have four players there looking to qualify, Chris Stretch, Jamie Brookes, Gary Whitehall and Phil Jones, the latter two having qualified in 2022. Mark Thomas qualified last season as he aims to make it two years on the spin.
Good luck to all players.
Thank you to Jackie, Joe and Jamie for running the sessions.
All qualifying greens are on the Premier League green unless stated.
Scratch is 6.30 p.m.
