Shifnal Spring Open Finals Night Preview

The first finals of the Shifnal Spring Open takes place tonight with Callum Wraight the hot favourite on his former green. He plays Chris Worthington first game, one of four Sir John Bayley bowlers in the field. Scott Simpson is just above them and has one of five Wrockwardine Wood bowlers in Rob Roden. Dan Taylor against Sam Millward is another Bayley versus Wrockwardine clash, with the up and coming Emmet McKinley taking on Callum Mitchell from Warwick and Worcester. Alex Wolfenden makes the long drive down from Yorkshire and plays Jamie King, current holder of the Bylet Open, with the winner playing Josh Cotton who has the bye. Jackie Rutter has impressed in qualifying late for both this and the Edgmond but has a tough game against Welsh Merit winner Nick Jones, with Tom Killen, having grown up on the green, playing Clay Flattley, who had a tough run in the qualifiers to get here.

The action starts at 6. There will be rolls, samosas and cake available in the clubhouse.

Dave Ellison will be there to take bets, with the odds and draw below.
