Bylet face Bayley, Highley take on Champs, Dragons look for first win
Bylet and Highley face tough tests in week 3 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Bylet face Sir John Bayley, coming off a win against Burway last week, while Highley will put their unbeaten start on the line as they host Castlefields. Both visitors will be looking for good wins to make a statement, the Bayley won 12-4 at the Bylet last year and Castlefields 14-2 at Highley. Highley though will be confident coming off a win at Wem USC last week. Captain Simon Rhodes says of last week “Highley have got off to a fine start, the team were committed and held strong together against a good Wem home team. We had gone there hoping for 4-5 winners and anything else would be an advantage – the team rallied around each other well and those who lost were spurred on and able to claw back vital points where they counted, on a green that was running well for the time of year and a tricky pace. The team are playing well together and supporting each other well at present and long may this continue.

We hope that we will be able to give them the match that they deserve on Highley, which is in excellent condition at present for the time of year – I envisage a hard fought contest tomorrow and if we continue to play as they have been over recent weeks then I certainly hope that we will get over the line with a home victory. I am hoping for a 7-5 win which would be a great achievement as we certainly will not be underestimating Castlefields’ strength in depth, but we also have to acknowledge our own players and their strength on a good home green.

St Georges are looking for their first win of the season as they host an Adderley side coming off an away win at Horsehay last week. Horsehay themselves will be looking to bounce back at a winless Hanwood side who will want to kickstart their season with a win. Meole Brace host Ifton with both teams having had steady starts to the season, while Burway meet Wem USC looking to bounce back from losses last week, but both had good wins the first week of the season. Wrockwardine Wood will look to have a good home win against Hanmer after a tough start to the season, while Hanmer come off a great 12-2 home win last week.
