Top two win well away, Highley get super six, Fields earn good home win

The top two won well away from home in week 6 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. League leaders Sir John Bayley won 12-4 at Wem USC, with captain Scott Simpson leading the way winning 21-1. “We started really well on Wem on Friday and put a marker down for the rest of the game by going 5-0 up. They battled really well in the second half of the game to come away with 4. Another good performance from our boys and some valuable few points on the board.” Best for Wem was Gareth Davies 21-9. Wrockwardine Wood went one better winning 13-3 at Horsehay. Skipper Liam Stevens comments on “another positive win on the road. The green was unusually tricky and some of the bowls played on there wasn’t overly pretty as a result, but we navigated it well enough and have kept ourselves in the mix around the top – our aim each week is to keep ourselves there.” Best for them was Greg Smith and Scott Moseley 4, with the home side’s best being John Roberts Jnr 14. Castlefields had a good 12-2 home win over Burway, led by Callum Wraight’s 21-4 win. Ben Allen was best for the Ludlow side 10.

Highley earned a super six winners at Adderley to keep up their good away form. Best winner was Sean Lockley 9, with the home’s best being Philip Jones 5. Meole Brace will also be happy with a fab five winners at Hanwood, their best being captain Chris Jones winning 11. For Hanwood it was Phil Lyttle and Shaun Bould 21-6. St Georges will be another happy away team with a fantastic four winners at Ifton. Best winner for them was Julie Alderman 4, while for Ifton it was Simon Tyler and Joey Williams by the same score. Hanmer defeated Bylet 10-4, best winner for them being Alan Faulkner 4 and best for Bylet being Matt Ealey 5.

Sir John Bayley lead Wrockwardine Wood by 3 and another 4 back to Castlefields. Horsehay are 13 behind Wem USC, who are another 3 behind the Bylet. There are 6 players yet to lose any of their 6 games, led by Owen Jackson on aggregate.
