Week 13 Review

Ifton, Hanmer & Burway earn good away results, Hanwood continue form

Ifton earned their third straight big away win in week 13 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They won 13-3 at Horsehay, Owen Jackson leading the way 21-7, while Steve Reeves was best for the home side 9. Hanmer and Adderley both took advantage of bottom placed Horsehay losing with an 8-6 victory for Adderley. Hanmer captain Dave Ellison says “a thoroughly entertaining game last night with Hanmer racing into a 6-1 lead after 7 blocks but the Adders brought it back to edge us 8-6. Special mention to Jacob Jones who is a great prospect and good to have him aboard at Hanmer. For Adderley Gary Whitehall started the comeback (by being best winner 6) and bowled exceptionally well.” Dave himself was best winner 6 for the visitors. Burway kept 5th place after getting 7 winners at Highley but missing out on the aggregate. Skipper Adam Dovey says “another really good away performance on a very quick and tricky green we have played this year. Getting 7 games after being 3-1 down is a really good outcome. Everyone battled really well in a game that could have gone either way with all the close cards.” Best winner for Burway was Dave Wilding 9, while Dave East was best for the hosts 4.

The top two continued their fine form both winning 11-5. The leaders the Bayley won at Meole, best winner being Scott Simpson 9, with Mark Thomas best for Meole 6. Castlefields won at St Georges, Adam Jones best winner 4 for them and Joe Killen best for the Dragons 8. Wrockwardine Wood, in 3rd, did gain a point on both with a 12-2 home win over the Bylet. Jamie King was best winner 5 for them and Rob Renke best winner for the Bylet again 13. Hanwood continued their fine form with a 13-1 home win over Wem USC, Glyn Wellings leading the way 8.
