Woore spokesman Andy Smith said “what an epic match to end a momentous season for Woore Rhinos! The disappointment on the Horsehay faces said it all, two teams whose whole season revolved around this playoff. We knew the Horsehay lads would be highly motivated for the occasion and just like last year they all played some excellent stuff, in particular Gavin Bridge, Steve Reeves and Neil Harris. In the end the match was settled in the back four and I think both sets of players handled the pressure very well. The official player of the match award went to Gary “ Bear” Beff but in our post-match debrief we nominated Liam “Chode” Jones who carried the whole weight of the team on his shoulders at No.12 and ran out from 7-11 down. The Horsehay lads (just like Sinclair) were very magnanimous in defeat, the banter around the green was fair and respectful and all the games were played with great sportsmanship. The venues for playoff matches this week have been superb with both greens in excellent condition. Finally I’m sure all three teams involved would like to thank Rob Burroughs and Mike Potter for officiating in their usual efficient manner.”
Horsehay vice-captain Craig Baugh says “firstly would like to thank the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier League for allowing Horsehay into the league for the short period that we have had in there. We’re obviously devastated to be leaving such a well organised league and that’s down to the officers that take out their time to put this on. Hopefully we’ll be back in the future. Good luck to Woore going forward. Great set of lads who will only improve the league.”
