2025 Hall of Fame

2025 saw the 31st season of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League and several league records broken as Castlefields took standards to a new high. They scored a record high number of points, winning their 12th title from Sir John Bayley, who posted a second new high points total for the league. The Bayley also won 21 straight games in this and last season, both teams only losing 3 games to match Wrockwardine Wood’s record in 2022. At the bottom Horsehay finished there again but weren’t able to match their Play Off heroics in 2024 against Woore, but Woore were pushed all the way in a Play Off classic as they become the 26th club to play in our league in 2026.

Scott Simpson won the League Averages comfortably with 23 wins after a tight early battle. He was part of a record 5 winners of the Most Consecutive Wins with Jamie King, Dave East, Reece Farr and Owen Jackson. The Player of the Month came back this year, with Jamie, Owen and Scott also adding that along with Spencer Clarke, Robin Bennett and Stuart Rutter.

Callum Wraight won the League Merit again at Sinclair to retain the title, while we had our first ever female winner in the Mike Hinton Pairs, Sarah Weaver teaming up with partner Dave Hanson to win it at Bayston Hill.

The Audlem Special Events Team Alan Mayhew Trophy saw a thriller in the final as Ifton defeated Castlefields by 4, Martin Jones earning the man of the match award. Castlefields bounced back to win the Pool A final against Hanwood, while Adderley kept up their remarkable record when beating St Georges in the Pool B final for their third straight triumph.

Dan Taylor won the Fantasy Bowls League with a dominant display with his team Only Fools and Horses, while last year’s runner up Rob Burroughs won the Predictions League as Statto21.

Well done to all our league winners from this season.

Well done also to those who won Open competitions and BCGBA events, especially Ash Wellings on winning the Champion of Champions triumph, the fourth person to do so from our league, following Greg Smith and Castlefields pair Callum Wraight and Mike Beer.

A final thank you to our sponsors Taylor Support, Audlem Special Events, Get Connected Mobile Phones and Steve Peach Painting & Decorating for their continued support, it is much appreciated.
