Burway shock Ifton, Woore win well, Fields march on
Burway shocked Ifton to pick up their first win of the season in week 3 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Adam Dovey said “We couldn’t have asked for a better performance from the lads. 1 to 12 we all played well. The front four did really well to get a good start because at one point it wasn’t looking likely. Looking at the predicted scores no one thought we would be getting a result near to what we got and to be honest neither did we considering the strong side they’ve got. We wish Ifton all the best for the season.” Best winner for them was Adam Dovey 7, with Ifton’s best being Brian Hayes 5. Woore kept up their good home form with a 12-2 victory over Highley. Skipper Dan Hand said “a great win for us against a dangerous Highley side. Steve Rogers with a great battle against Phil Chester which set the tone for the night. Also a special mention for Jen winning her first game for us after being froze out at Meole. Great bunch Highley who stayed and drank until past midnight, wish them the best of luck for the season.” Castlefields are the only team unbeaten now as they won 12-4 at Adderley. Best winner for them was Ash Wellings 3, while for the Adders it was Chris Stretch 21-10, who remain the only team without a win.
Bylet got their first win with a 9-5 victory over Hanmer. Captain Cheryl Caswell led the way 21-8, with opposition joint captain Dave Ellison their best 21-10. Wem USC also got their first win of the season with a 10-4 success over Wem USC. Colin Smith and Darren Fitzpatrick were best winners 9, with Darren Wellings best for the visitors 6. St Georges shocked neighbours Wrockwardine Wood with a 9-5 win. Gordon Hawkins led the way 21-4 and Tom Killen led the way for the away side 8. Sir John Bayley also continued their good home form with a 12-2 win over Meole Brace. Dave Semper was best winner 4 for them and Craig Wilson best for Meole 10.
