Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
Fields edge home Bayley, Hanwood, St Georges, Wrockwardine, Ifton and Hanmer with big home wins
Castlefields edged home Sir John Bayley in week 19 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They won 9-5 to further extend their lead, with both teams missing some key players. Their best winner was Ash Wellings 8, with Scott Harries best for the Bayley 11. Hanwood enjoyed their best home win of the season with a 13-1 victory over Bylet. Rich Lawson was best winner 8 for them, with Tim Ealey the winner for the away side 18. Hanmer also enjoyed a great home win with a 12-2 success over North Shropshire rivals Adderley. Joint captain Dave Ellison says “a good home team performance again and we won a lot of the close games which we haven’t done all season. A special mention to Mike Gilpin who got themselves into the top ten players of the month for July. Lee Peate (best winner 8) also who has battled with injuries but is starting to be his old self again.” Phil Jones was best for Adderley 15.
Ifton also won 12-2 against Wem USC, Owen Jackson & Leighton Roberts best winners 7. Gareth Davies was best for Wem 16. Wrockwardine Wood was another team who won 12-2, against Woore. Clay Flattley was their best winner 8, with Paul Phillips best for Woore 9. A fourth team won 12-2 with St Georges returning to form against Burway. Matt Rhodes and Chris Ward were their best winners 12, Kiah Roberts being Burway’s best 14. Highley beat Meole Brace 11-3, Jamie Taylor their best winner 8 and Pete Bound best for Meole 6.
Castlefields are 13 ahead of Sir John Bayley and another 6 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Bylet are 33 behind Adderley and another 3 behind Burway. Clay Flattley is now one win ahead of everyone, but Joe Killen is still leading the consecutive wins with 12.
