Sir John Bayley will be very happy matching Castlefields’ point haul in week 23 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They won at 3rd placed Wrockwardine Wood 12-4 to keep in the title race. Nick Wyer was their best winner 5 while Joe Killen was best winner 7 for the home side. The Fields won at Hanmer by the same score, Adam Jones their best winner 6 with Mel Jenkins best for the hosts 9. Woore also won 12-4 at Wem USC to keep 5th place, Steve Rogers and Gary Beff best winners 9. For Wem it was Colin Smith best winner 13. Hanwood lost ground to them after beating Highley 10-4, but have put 12 points between them and Highley in 6th. Andy Jones was their best winner 10 and Danny Statham Highley’s best 13. Ifton closed the gap on Wrockwardine Wood to 11 points in 3rd place after getting past Meole Brace 9-5. Ian Jones was their best winner 7 and Andrew Whitman best for Meole 10. St Georges matched their best win of the season with a 12-2 victory over Bylet. John Cooke led the way 4, while away captain Cheryl Caswell was their best 6. Burway defeated Adderley 10-4 to move into 10th place. Richard Lane was their best winner 4 while Garry Owen was best for the Adders 8.
Castlefields are 7 ahead of Sir John Bayley, and another 28 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Bylet are 31 behind Adderley and another 11 behind St Georges and Hanmer. Scott Harries leads the league averages by one win and Joe Killen is now confirmed the Most Consecutive Wins winner after beating Paul Evans who had won 9 straight and could have still beaten his streak if he had won his last 4 games.
