Into September and the blip from the previous week was put right by Newport to get 6 at Ifton and move one further of Meole Brace who scored 5 at St Georges. The big game at the bottom went Bylet’s way 9-5 as they moved two clear of Archibald Worthington. Wrockwardine Wood kept their top three hopes alive as they won at previously unbeaten at home Burway 10-4 in a shock result. Newport sealed the title in the penultimate week when they beat Sir John Bayley 11-3 and Meole Brace suffered a shock 9-5 home loss to Ifton who now had a chance of snatching second place from Meole. At the bottom Archibald Worthington sealed a remarkable result beating St Georges 11-3 at home to move 7 clear of Bylet who only got 2 at Castlefields. But this proved not to be enough as Bylet produced their best result of the season in beating Hadley USC 12-2 while Archie only got 2 at Burway in the final week of the season. Meole held onto 2nd place but only on games won as they got 4 at the Bayley with Ifton winning 10-4 at Chester Road. Castlefields and St Georges managed to sneak into the top 6 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood after winning 12-2 and 10-4 respectively.
The League Averages winner was Rob Burroughs of Hadley USC by just 4 chalks from Glyn Picknell and the Most Consecutive Wins Award went to Rich Lawson of Bowring and Ifton’s Nicky Jones who both won 13.
Into the playoffs and Hanwood saw off Hanmer and Donnington Wood pretty comfortably before facing Archibald Worthington in front of a packed crowd at Allscott. Hanwood earned 10 out of the 12 winners to easily beat Archie by 46 to finally come through the playoffs and take the 14th place in the 2016 season.

In the Pool A Newport beat St Georges first round but then lost to Ifton by 11 on Meole Brace in the semi finals whilst Sir John Bayley beat Meole Brace by 32 on Chester Road in the other semi. The two met on the Bayley’s top green and despite an early lead by Ifton after the first four the Bayley used home advantage well to win by 18.
In the Pool B and Hadley USC beat Bylet by 31 and Wrockwardine Wood beat Bowring by 4 in the 1st round. The two then met in the Semis and Hadley won by 10 with Burway comfortably beating Wem USC by 49 in the other semi. In the final and despite Hadley leading all the way Burway managed to snatch the win by 3 after captain Duncan Pressley won 18 last on on the Bayley bottom green.
