There are two rearranged games tonight as Bylet host Wrockwardine Wood and St Georges play Hanwood. Bylet are currently level with Hadley USC at the bottom of the table and know a good home win over Wrockwardine Wood will make them heavy favourites to avoid bottom spot and the dreaded playoff associated with it. Wrockwardine Wood are 5 behind Wem USC just above them so will be aiming to overhaul them.
Hanwood are one of the form teams at moment, but most of this form has been at home with only two points dropped out their last three home games. Joint captain Mark Shore says “as we enter the last week of the season it’s fair to say I’m delighted with the teams efforts. Many will point to the fact our home green gets us lots of points which is true but going into our last away game of the season we have won 51 games on the road which is only 14 less than the champions elect SJB, quite an achievement given our opening night at Ifton. This week we face a tough midweek fixture at St Georges who lie 22 points behind SJB but will know a big win against us would put them in with an outside chance of sneaking the title away from the Bayley. We will be looking to get as many as we can to help us achieve our internal target at the start of the season to get into the top 6. Friday we entertain Wem USC at the Cock and will be looking to continue our fine home form. Like all teams in this league Wem have some top players so we will have to be on it to push over the line. Following the last 5 years of heartbreak in the playoffs it’s been great to be back in with big boys. The highlight for me has been the great club spirit that exists at Hanwood. A real club pulling together all interested in how each other are getting on. A real privilege to be one of their captains.” St Georges will indeed be looking for a big win to give themselves a chance of catching Sir John Bayley, but more realistically captain Tony Rhodes is looking “for two 10-4 home wins which should get us second place.”
