Comments:
Hadley USC had a season to forget as they lost their place in the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League after losing to Hanmer by just 8 chalks in the Playoffs at Bicton. It started well enough, winning 8-6 at Wem USC first game of the season, but that was as good as it got for the Huskies. Two home defeats followed and a lack of big home wins or good home results proved their downfall. A draw with Castlefields showed they could match the top teams at home, after beating St Georges and Hanwood too, but then a narrow home defeat to Burway, followed by a run of just 21 points in 6 games, with 12 of them coming at home to Wem USC, meant they were cut adrift at the bottom and couldn’t catch up, the final nail in the coffin being losing at home to struggling Wrockwardine Wood. Losing captain Rob Burroughs two thirds into the season didn’t help, even if he was struggling to match the form of last season, and star signing James Duce didn’t play from August onwards due to other commitments. They were always in the game at Bicton against Hanmer, and led by 1 with captain Ade Smith left on the green, but he couldn’t quite get them over the line. Now they will regroup back in the Mid-Shropshire League.
In the Alan Mayhew they lost first round to Castlefields after not having a winner at home in a 41 shot loss overall, and lost to Bowring by 29 in the Pool B 1st round.
