Bowring take part in their first ever World Club Championships as they look to make their mark on the big stage. They won the KGJ Insurance County Cup last season after a shock triumph over Castlefields and despite losing three members of that team over the Winter to Wrockwardine Wood they take the majority of that team that won the cup. They have a new captain though with Jamie King taking over after Rich Lawson had led them for the last few years, and he knows that “it’s a massive day for the club and we are all looking forward to the day. We’ve got a young squad mixed with some experience which will hopefully be enough to see us progress. Obviously we want to win and qualify for the finals day but we know it’s going to be a tough task with the quality of the teams that we will be up against and we know we have to be on top form to be in with a chance. It’s definitely achievable and we have been putting the hours in pre-season so we are prepared to play against some of the best bowlers in the country. I’m confident we can do it and I believe in the squad I have selected.” They play South Ramsey first game but Jamie “doesn’t know much about then but I’m guessing it’s going to be a lot of the Isle Of Man county players. As long as we play well I think they should be more worried about us!”
Their squad tomorrow is captain Jamie King, John Cooke, former League Merit Winners James Grimston, Rob Roden and Josh Bradburn, former League Averages Winner Rich Lawson, young guns Aaron King and Dave Lloyd.
