Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
Callum Wraight reached the Semi Finals of the Rudheath Open and Jamie King and Rob Burroughs made the Quarter Finals of the Spring Waterloo over the weekend. Callum beat Larry Wells 10, former All England Winner Tom Vickers 17 but then dipped out against Tommy Johnstone 17 in the Semi Finals. Tommy went on to lose to Darren Plenderleith 11 in the final.

Meanwhile at the Spring Waterloo two of our bowlers made the Quarter Finals. Rob Burroughs of Sir John Bayley beat Nick Hughes, registered for Ifton, 13 first game and then Mike Yearsley 19 before losing out to Mike Leach 12, who went onto beat James Hanson 19 in the final. Bowring captain Jamie King also made the same stage after coming through two close encounters, defeating Kevan Shaw 19 and Dave Jackson 18 on short marks before just dipping out to Stewart Meddings 20. Hanwood’s Greg Smith suffered a shock first round exit to Dean Butler, who then went on to beat Gary Ellis next round and lost out in the Semi Finals to Leach. Andy Hughes of Ifton also lost first round to Mark Holden, while his team mate Rocky Jones beat Wayne Ditchfield 19 first round before just losing to Stewart Meddings 20. Castlefield’s Steve Freer claimed a good scalp 1st round beating Glyn Cookson in the corners 18 but lost out to Gareth Coates, who utilised an edge very well, in the next round.
