Several Salop Shropshire Premier League Bowlers are looking for success this weekend in Blackpool when the finals of the Spring Waterloo take place. There are seven bowlers from our league taking part, headed by last year’s champion Greg Smith. He takes on Dean Butler, who beat two of our bowlers to qualify, in a very tough section including Gary Ellis, Tommy Johnstone and Steve Freer of Castlefields, who takes on Glynn Cookson for starters. Two of our bowlers meet in the 1st round, with Nick Hughes, registered for Ifton having played for them over a number of years, taking on Sir John Bayley’s Rob Burroughs. Nick’s team mate and namesake Andy plays Mark Holden for starters, while another team mate Dave “Rocky” Jones has a tough task against second favourite Wayne Ditchfield. Jamie King beat team mate Dave Lloyd to qualify and takes his place against last week’s Lancashire Merit Champion Kevan Shaw.
It is a quality field at the Waterloo, with Graeme Wilson starting as favourite. Good luck to all our bowlers taking part.
