Chester Road & Bylet earn big wins, big home wins at top, Bowring get good 6

Chester Road and Bylet earned big home wins at the bottom of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League in Gameweek 14. Chester Road beat Ifton 12-2 in a massive win at the bottom with Chester Road pulling away and leaving Ifton 5 points adrift at the bottom. The result left Chester Road captain Paul Fowles “over the moon with the performance. We played very well and are very happy with our performance. They had a couple out but replaced them with good players. We can go there now with not so much pressure on us so hopefully we can get a decent result.” Best winner for the Road was K P Jones 6 while Rocky Jones was best winner on his comeback 13. Bylet also earned a big win at the bottom beating Meole Brace 10-4. They were thankful for a great comeback from Rob Steventon winning 18 from 14-3 down last on and Rob Renke being best winner running out from 6 across. Darren Wellings won 8 to be best winner for Meole, who suffered a massive blow to their title aspirations.

Newport leapfrogged Meole Brace into 3rd with a 12-2 over Hanwood. Captain Mick Jones commented “another great result with Wayne Phillips playing really well for them (to be best winner 11). Justin Pegram won 20 after being 18-4 down.” Phil Emery was best winner 3 for the home side. Newport though are still 7 behind Sir John Bayley and a further 7 behind Castlefields as both teams matched their result. Bayley beat Hanmer with Paul Reeves their best winner 5 while for Hanmer Jack Hewitt was their best 15, with Lee Peate inspirational against Scott Simpson winning 19. Hanmer could have had more with 4 close losers to, but slip to second bottom. Castlefields were a little more comfortable against Wem USC, despite Derek Wright’s 10 win for the visitors, as Andy Duckett was the best of their 4 single figure victories. Bowring earned an excellent 6 at Wrockwardine Wood with Kieran Buckley and Reece Farr winning 14 to be their best, while Andy Jones helped sealed the aggregate for the home side winning 8. St Georges won 11-3 at home to Burway to move up to 5th place. Peter Grimston was best winner 3 while Wayne Rogers was best for the Ludlow side, 11.

Castlefields lead by 7 to the Bayley, while Ifton are five points behind Hanmer at the bottom. Callum Wraight still leads the League Averages on aggregate while Doug Edwards missed the chance to go level with Callum on 11 Consecutive Wins.
