Castlefields & Hanwood progress comfortably, Meole overturn deficit
Castlefields and Hanwood were comfortable winners in the 2nd round of the Barlows Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy. Castlefields beat Bowring by 32 overall with 6 winners at home the main difference in a 40 shot win. Callum Wraight led the way with a 21-9 while away Mike Beer was the best of their 3 winners 21-8. Rob Roden was the best card overall for Bowring winning 8. Hanwood will meet Castlefields in a tasty all Shrewsbury clash after they beat Bylet by 48 overall, all those winning chalks coming at home with 6 winners, Tony Hotchkiss the best of them 4. At the Bylet it ended in a draw with three winners each, Scott Harries the best for the home side 10 while Dave Payne and Phil Lyttle’s 15 wins helped limit the damage there. Meole Brace made it a clean sweep of Shrewsbury teams through as they overturned a 4 chalk deficit at Hanmer to run out comfortable 19 shot winners. At Hanmer and Robin Bennett was the best of the three home winners 8 with Peter Bound replying with a 10 card. The following night in Shrewsbury and Meole gained some revenge on their home defeat to the same team two weeks back having 5 winners in a 23 chalk win. Mark Thomas was best winning 11 while only Dave Ellison stemmed the tide for the away side winning 12.
The date of Ifton and Wrockwardine Wood should be finalised the next couple of days.

Meole Brace beat Hanmer by 19 overall, winning by 23 at home and losing by 4 away.
