Some Salop Leisure SPBL Success despite near misses!

We suffered several near misses over the weekend but did have one qualifier from the Meole Brace Open. Ifton’s Leighton Roberts got through again, after doing so at St Georges, beating Michael McDonnell, Burway’s Kiah Roberts and Newport Pete Farmer 18 in his qualifier. Former League Averages Winner Wayne Rogers of Burway lost to Aaron Tapper in the qualifier, Aaron having played a solitary game for Sir John Bayley last season. Castlefields’ Rich Goddard and Wem USC’s Derek Wright both also lost in their last game to Kevin Handley and John Bailey respectively, while Sir John Bayley’s Paul Evans just failed to make it a perfect three out of three qualifications as he lost to Andy Thornton 20.

Sir John Bayley’s Spencer Clarke was a near miss at St Georges as he was edged out by Matt Gilmore 16.

Callum Wraight of Castlefields did get through at West Brom, with results still to come.

The weather postponed both Sunday sessions at Meole Brace, West Brom and St Georges with all due to be played on Good Friday on 30th March.
