2017 Review:
Wrockwardine Wood improved three places last season and enjoyed a solid campaign. They weren’t far off a top half or top 4 finish, just 10 points off 4th place. They suffered just the one home defeat against Meole Brace, but did gain some big home wins including a whitewash over Wem USC. They had a slow start away, including back to back single winners at Chester Road and St Georges, but then drew at Bylet and won at Ifton to improve considerably. They lost in the Quarter Finals of the Alan Mayhew Trophy and pulled out of the Pool B.
2018 Aims:
Wrockwardine Wood will look to push on and finish top half at least this season. Back under the leadership of Stuart Clee, they would want to match their finish at least in the same place they did when under him back in 2015 in 7th. They will be desperate to remain unbeaten at home this season, and then to build on that with their away form. They have two ex players in Steve Faulkner and Paul Jones returning who played for them a lot in the early days of the league, and how quick they can get back to their previous form could be key. They have also signed Steve & Dan Bodley who will provide more competition for places, as well as Darrell Matkin from Derbyshire. They will fancy their chances of getting past Bylet in the Alan Mayhew 1st round.
