St Georges Open Day Finals Day Preview

The Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League has a quarter of the field at the St Georges Open tomorrow. Two of them play each other as Andy Duckett of Castlefields takes on Josh Bradburn from Newport, who used to play at St Georges. There are two other former home players in the line up, as Scott Harries and Tom Roden play Gareth Herbert and Adam Weaver respectively. Castlefields’ Adam Jones is the other player in the field and has a tough opener against Gareth Coates. His team mate Tom Palmer takes on up and coming youngster Josh Mordue. Castlefields’ Steve Freer and Chris Ward of Sir John Bayley have won plenty of these competitions between them and will look to add another as they play Nigel Hughes and Steve Gilfedder respectively.Simon Coupe is the bookies favourite and has a bye into the last 16 after Rob Carter had to pull out. Wayne Ditchfield is another big name in the field and has a tough first round game against Jason Galvin. The game of the first round is between two former Champion of Champions in Graeme Wilson and John Bailey. Two more big competition winners from last year in Spring Waterloo Champion Kevan Shaw and Sandal Classic winner Dean Missere take each other on 1st round. Nathan Dawes has qualified for all three big pre-season competitions and plays Chris Eccles, while his Dudley Dell team mate Simon Homer takes on Felix Abba. Ryan Prosser has won the Meole Brace Open down the road and will hope to win in Shropshire again as he plays Nigel Egan. Paul Dale and Paul Leah play in plenty of big competitions so will hope experience pays off when they meet. James Martin makes the long trip down from Yorkshire to face youngster Jordie Baddeley.
