BowlsTrader Pool A&B Pictures & Reaction

Below are pictures and reaction from the BowlsTrader Pool A&B finals.

Wem beat Newport by 2 chalks, with Wem captain Scott Thomas saying “obviously we were pleased to just get over the line on Friday. Newport put out a very strong team and we know we’d be up against it throughout. But we started well and were able to maintain a good standard of performance right till the end of the game. It’s a testament to our player’s grit and determination and shows just how much we’ve improved since facing the playoffs a couple of seasons back!”

The Pool B was won by Highley who beat Chester Road by 19 shots. Victorious joint captain Stuart Gittings said “I have to commend Newport and the green for being in such good condition especially considering the weather we had received. Chester Road were a worthy opponent who were a bit vocal enjoying the first half of the match as their opening 4 bowlers played extremely well. We were happy in a funny way to be only 6 shots down (proving the point that good losers can win you games!) The final 4 matches started off not too well from our point of view but eventually we got to grips with the green and managed a couple of decent cards which enabled the last couple of games to be reasonably comfortable. All in all a really good way to finish off what has been a really enjoyable first season in a top league.”
