On this day in 2004 season saw the opening games of the season. Newport made their bow in the league, and had a baptism of fire playing Castlefields at home, who won 9-5 there. Champions Chester Road started their successful defence of the title with a 13-1 win over Donnington Wood, while Wrockwardine Wood had their game postponed against St Georges, and won the rematch 11-3. Ford scored an impressive 10-4 win at Craven Arms, with Childs Ercall winning by the same score at home to Archibald Worthington. Sir John Bayley defeated Wem USC 11-3 and Meole Brace beat Ifton 9-5.
