Callum defends Meole Open title!

Callum Wraight of Castlefields made it a weekend to remember as he won his third consecutive Meole Open and added it to the Burway Open title he defended yesterday. He beat his long term rival Greg Smith, formerly of Hanwood, in the final 18, managing to convert a late 17-12 lead to win. This was his toughest game of the day, he beat Tom Palmer 11 in the Semi Finals, Owen Jackson 10 in the Quarters, Ifton’s Kieran Roberts 13 second round and Glen Herbert 5 first round. Greg defeated Gareth Herbert 9 in the Semi Finals, Glynn Storer 17 in the Quarters, and Matt Beeston 13 and Adam Jones 12 in the first two rounds. In the other quarter finals, Pete Farmer of St Georges got 15 off Tom Palmer, while Ifton’s Leighton Roberts was defeated 10 by Gareth Herbert, who has signed for Sir John Bayley this season.
