Ifton face big test, Hanwood take on Champs, Burway look for 1st win
Unbeaten Ifton face a big test as they travel to St Georges in week 6 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They do have a good record there though recently, drawing there last season, so will be going with plenty of confidence. Ifton skipper Dickie Jones knows “this is our hardest game of the season so far, our form is good so hopefully it will continue.” St Georges come back off a good win against Wrockwardine Wood, so will be confident themselves. The Wrockites face another tough trip out to Hanwood, a place they did win at last season though. But it will be much tougher this time to match that, Hanwood having had their own good start to the season. Skipper Rich Lawson says “we look forward to welcoming the current title holders in what will be our toughest test so far this season. I’m extremely pleased at how we’ve started our season, we had a great win last week and hopefully we can get a positive result on Friday.” Castlefields will look to take advantage of those teams playing each other around them with a big home win over Wem USC. Wem have struggled so far, but did get a good 5 winners at Highley last time out. Sir John Bayley are another who have had a good start, and travel to the Bylet who have had a tough start, but the Bylet did beat them at home last season. Bylet spokeswoman Cheryl Caswell says “this will be our toughest game so far this season against one of the top two teams in the league. It is a game we very much look forward to despite our recent bad results but hope to push them all the way.”
Highley will look to improve their recent home form against Adderley, who will not have seen the green before. The Adders have had a solid start to their debut campaign though, despite losing at home last time out. Burway will look for their first home win over Chester Road having come close in their previous two home games. The Roaders though will be looking to build on getting 7 winners at Highley from 4-0 down on Wednesday. Hanmer take on Meole Brace with both sides having had good starts, only one point separates the two teams.
