Fields face tough trip, Bylet finally have home game, Meole look for home win
Castlefields face a tough trip to Hanwood in week 14 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They will be looking to get back at Hanwood, after they got 7 winners at their place on Friday. Hanwood skipper Rich Lawson said “I’m expecting a very hard fought match as always when Castlefields visit. They’re a top team and we’ll have to be on top form to get the home win.” The teams around the Fields will be looking for good home wins as leaders Sir John Bayley entertain Highley and Wrockwardine Wood take on Adderley. Highley though have been excellent away so far this season, and Adderley have picked up the last few weeks after a rough patch. Bylet have played their last three away so will be glad to be back at home this week. Spokeswoman Cheryl Caswell says “we look forward to playing at home following three very tough away games on the trot. Unfortunately we didn’t collect as many points as we had hoped and know that we need to make the most of our home games during the second half of the season if we are to move away from the bottom of the table.” Hanmer have had an excellent first half of the season, and will not want to waste that as they aim for their first ever top half finish.
Meole Brace host bottom side Wem USC looking for a good home win to start moving up the table. Skipper Nick Davies says “It was a tight game at Leek Street last Friday evening, even though we only came away with 4 winners. With home advantage we will be looking for a good win to get our season back on track and move up the table, however that’s not going to be an easy task with Wem scrapping for their Premiership survival and ourselves having players out through holidays and injury. Our green is in superb condition which should produce some good bowling and an enjoyable evening for the spectators.” Wem USC know they will need to improve to move away from bottom spot in the table. St Georges had a great win at Burway and will look for more of the same as they host the same side at home. Burway had a good run towards the latter of the first half and will want to try and get close to that in the second half to avoid dropping down the table. Chester Road and Ifton has been postponed to next week due to a clash with the Jubilee Doubles.
