Top & Bottom two clash, Telford Derby
The top and bottom two clash in week 16 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Leaders Sir John Bayley entertain Castlefields, who are now just one point behind them. Both teams have been in good form so far, and promises to be a close game on Haygate Road. Captain Adie Rowe says “it is a big weekend for us starting tomorrow at the Bayley. We are under no illusions it will be tough! But we’ve got to believe we can get a result so all guns blazing in Wellington!” Third placed Wrockwardine Wood will look to take advantage of the two above meeting, but have a tough home game against local rivals St Georges. St Georges skipper Tony Rhodes knows it is a “tough challenge but hopefully we may pick up the odd point.” Ifton are now in 4th but face a trip to Meole Brace this week as they look to make it two away wins in two days. Meole have had a good couple of home wins after losing their last two before that.
The bottom two teams meet as Adderley meet Wem USC. Adderley captain Gary Whitehall says “this week we welcome Wem to Adderley with both teams needing points for the same reason. The table doesn’t lie at this stage of the season and it’s up to both teams to improve if we’re going to stop it being a two horse race at the bottom.” Wem USC have had a good couple of home wins recently but know their away form needs to improve to move away from bottom spot. Burway play Bylet looking to bounce back from three straight defeats, while the Bylet come off two great home wins. Hanwood are also another looking to bounce back from two straight defeats as they entertain Hanmer, who will be looking to stay above their opponents after a great first half. Chester Road have their third home game on the bounce and will be looking for a reaction after their loss at home to Ifton as they take on Highley. This game ended in a draw last season, and Highley know they could replicate that given their good away form this season.
