Comments: It was a case of so close yet so far for Castlefields, as they finished runners-up to Sir John Bayley in the three main cup competitions. They lost their first game at Wrockwardine Wood, but then won their next 7 games before 5 winners at St Georges. They only got 6 winners at Burway with an understrength team, and then only had 5 winners at home to Hanwood but did win the aggregate. An away win at Hanwood the following game looked to kick start the season, but only 4 winners at their main rivals the Bayley and then just an 8-6 win at home to Meole Brace meant they fell behind. But they did have an excellent end to the season, 8 double figure point hauls in their last 9 games, but lost at Highley. They lost out on the league by a point with a points total that would win the league most seasons! They got to their fourth straight Alan Mayhew Trophy final, but lost out to the Bayley by 42 as they had a few key players out the side. They also lost out to the Bayley in the County Cup Final but in a much closer affair.
