Horsehay and Ifton look to bounce back, Meole aim to build
Several teams will be looking to bounce back from poor results on Wednesday in week 15 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Horsehay have only scored two points in their last two games, and know it won’t be much easier against an in form Hanwood side who just beat Castlefields. Spokesman Steve Reeves says “the last time we played Hanwood was our first game of the season and did well to get 5 winners so we are looking to do better this time and make sure we use the home advantage. Not sure what team we are able to put out due to illness and holidays but we will be up for the challenge again and close the gap on those above us.” Ifton will also look to bounce back from just 4 winners at Adderley as they host Wrockwardine Wood, who have scored 28 points in their last two games. Ifton skipper Dickie Jones says “we expect a tough match against a side who have only lost once this season. Our last home game was an average performance so we will need to improve if we are to remain unbeaten at home.” Castlefields will be wanting to bounce back from just 4 winners on Wednesday and also an opening day loss at Wem USC as they host the same club. Wem though will be desperate to put right just one winner on Wednesday at home to the league leaders Sir John Bayley. The Bayley are flying and will be looking for a big win over a Highley side who come off a poor result on Wednesday, but did win their last away game.
Burway are another that will want to bounce back from just two winners at Meole Brace, and host the Bylet coming off a super six winners at Highley. Meole will want to build on that good result, but face a tough test against St Georges. Skipper Nick Davies says “we host St Georges who as always will be difficult opponents. Wednesday evening’s win against Burway should give us some momentum going into this game and the players need to apply themselves in the same determined way and hopefully we can get off to a good start again, which will put us in a good position to push for another home win as we move into the second half of the season.” Hanmer meet Adderley with both teams having had 10-4 wins and losses in their last two games as they look both to push on in the second half of the season.
