Horsehay have Highley, Burway take on Dragons, Hanmer face Fields test
Horsehay have a local test as they take on a Highley side who has a lot of knowledge of their green in week 17 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. The two teams have met annually in the Highley league and the home side will hope that doesn’t help them tomorrow night. Spokesman Steve Reeves says “we are looking to put last week’s result behind us and to put more points on the board to bridge the gap on those above us. Some of the Highley lads know our green from the Tuesday league so we will have to be on top of it and make sure any of the close games go our way.” Bylet, 6 points above Horsehay, make the long trip to Ifton who still are looking for a top three finish. St Georges are just behind them in fourth, but face a long trip themselves to Burway. Burway skipper Adam Dovey is “looking forward to the game Friday, we know it’s going to be a very tough task against a very good team which always plays our green well. Will be happy with any kind of win and confident in the team with the way we’re playing.”
League leaders Sir John Bayley host Hanwood who have hit form lately themselves. Wrockwardine Wood, in 2nd, travel to Wem USC looking for a big win to keep up with the league leaders. Wem suffered a big loss in their last home game against the Bayley so will be hoping not to suffer the same result. Castlefields have their own tough trip to an improved Hanmer knowing they need to win there to have any title chances. Hanmer captain Ieuan Pugh says “we’re looking forward to a good game against a top side! We’ve been in decent form so we’re hoping to take that into the game. We will have to be at our best against them to get a good home result!” Meole Brace host Adderley, with Meole looking to show some of the fighting spirit in their last home game against St Georges, while Adderley have done well so far away this season, having only scored less than four in one game so far.
