Play Off Draw & Preview

The 2024 Play Off takes place at Bicton Bowling Club at 7 p.m. between Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League side Horsehay and Whitchurch League Champions Woore.

Woore have gone with the same 12 in the same order that saw off Shifnal so impressively on Wednesday, while Horsehay have their strongest 12 out. Horsehay do have some experience of the Play Offs, they took on Adderley two years ago and ran them close before being edged out, while Paul Powell played in the White Horse team in the 2005 and 2006 Play Off finals. Woore have a lot of the 2019 Chester Road side that had a tough Play Off final against Adderley before winning out.

Horsehay spokesman Steve Reeves congratulates “both Shifnal and Woore on winning their respective leagues. We go into tonight’s game as underdogs that’s for sure, Woore have a wealth of experience from 1-12 and know this league inside out. But we’ve been underdogs all season its nothing new for us now. As a team we want to remain in the league and we’ll be giving our all to remain there.”

Woore joint captain Dan Hand says “tonight we have a chance to create a little bit of history for Woore Bowling Club and reach the Premier League for the first time. In what was our aim at the start of the season we are now only one game away. We came through a tough game against Shifnal on Wednesday and that gives us a lot of belief going into tonight’s game. Horsehay will be a tricky opponent on the night and these matches can be won and lost by the smallest of margins but I have the utmost confidence in this group of players and I believe that if we stick together anything is possible.”

Live scores will be updated here. There may be live coverage on the Facebook group, but depends how close the game is!

There will be a man of the match award for a bottle of champagne.

It is £1 admission, with limited copies of a programme available.

There is a raffle with 5 prizes on offer, a bottle of red and white wine, port, chocolates and biscuits.

Bicton are putting on a BBQ from 6.30 to 9, and the bar will be open from 6.30. Hot drinks will be available from the Pavilion.
