Horsehay in must win, Hanmer face Wrockties, Dragons on the road
Horsehay face a must win in week 17 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They take on Hanwood looking to build on last week’s win at Adderley. Vice captain Craig Baugh says “we move onto Hanwood and look to use last week as a lever now and with the same spirit see where it takes us to the season ends.” Hanwood have had an up and down season and just beat Ifton last week at home. Hanmer are the team above Horsehay at the moment and would love to repeat the 11-3 win over Wrockwardine Wood they did last season. Joint captain Dave Ellison knows it will be “another tough game tomorrow night at home to Wrockwardine Wood. We have a few players missing due to holiday commitments but will give it our best shot against a strong Wrockwardine side. The weather forecast is good and a good night of bowls is anticipated.” Wrockwardine are a different side this year but know they will need to win to keep their top 3 place given Ifton’s recent good form. Ifton host Meole Brace this week who will be looking to bounce back from their home loss to Castlefields last week. The top two are both at home this week, the leaders Fields hosting Highley and Bayley against the Bylet, with both looking to try and gain an advantage on the other. Highley and Bylet though have had some good away results this season and will know they will have no pressure on them.
St Georges travel to an Adderley side looking to bounce back from that shock home loss to Horsehay last week. Dragons skippers Martin Gaut says “Friday’s match at Adderley is a big one for us, and we’re aiming to grab some vital points! Adderley will be fired up after their unexpected loss to Horsehay last week, but our squad is prepared to fight hard and we’re optimistic about a strong performance.” Wem USC host Burway knowing their visitors come to them in good form and currently sitting 5th, but Wem come off a great away six at Highley.
