Congratulations to Ash Wellings for winning the BCGBA Champion of Champions, following in the footsteps of our bowlers Callum Wraight, Mike Beer and Greg Smith, becoming the fourth Castlefields bowler to do so. He beat Anthony Walker in the final 6, virtually running out from 9-5 up. In the Semi Finals he had defeated Ryan Prosser 18 and Andy Saunders 7 in the Quarter Finals. He had his biggest scare when coming back from around 12-6 down to Paul Dudley in the last 16 but came back to win 19, although he only edged out Kerry Morris 20 in the Last 32. First game he had defeated Andrew Sorsby 13.
Tom Killen had a good run to the last 16, beating David Bradford 8 and then 2023 winner Greg Smith 15, before losing out to Andy Saunders 18. Greg had beaten Stuart Rutter first game 17. Sam Millward won his first game 10 but then lost 18 to Chris Kelly, and Dan Corbett won 15 versus Matt Nelson but went out 10 to Paul Dudley. Owen Jackson defeated Danny Beeby 11 then was beaten Ryan Prosser 11. Scott Simpson, Scott Harries, Callum Wraight, Chris Stretch, Josh Cotton and Jamie King all lost first game.
