Conor Chamberlain won the 2025 Newport Open edging out Tom Killen 20 in a great final! Conor was 7-4 down early on but then went 12-7 up. Tom hit back to 12 across in the corners before Conor hit back to go 19-14 up over the middle. Tom got back in and got back to 19 across in the corners. Conor had a chance for game but didn’t make two, then Tom played a runner a little too hard next end but did count one. He then led a foot bowl on a 20m straight mark but Conor made sure he was there and hit the jack to be about 6 inch away. Tom played a runner and just missed Conor’s bowl to end a great final.
In the Semi Finals both players won 14. Conor beat Phil Jones, despite being pegged back to trail 10-9 after he had gone 9-2 up. Tom defeated his Wrockwardine Wood team mate Josh Cotton, going 7-2 up and from 11 across went 20-12 ahead.
The Quarter Finals saw Conor get past Jon Ball 9 after going 14-4 up. Phil defeated Joe Killen 14 after running out from 14 across. Josh Cotton beat Jack Clayton from 14-4 ahead, and Tom got past Pete Farmer 19, going 16-10 up from 10 across and holding his nerve at 19 across.
Well done to Conor on his success.
